# A useful AI test

Original example narration written for this gallery. Not the reference transcript; not voiced in the silent specimen. Outcomes and charts are illustrations, not benchmark results.

A useful AI workflow has three parts: a real task, a repeatable test, and someone who can judge the result.

Start with a task you already do. Keep its context and agree what a good answer looks like.

Put the brief, the source material and a good example together. That becomes your test kit.

Use the same set of tasks when you try another model. Otherwise, you are comparing different jobs.

Look at the actual output. Check the facts, the missing details and whether you could use it.

Saving time is useful, but only if the work is good enough. Keep speed and quality in view.

As the work gets more complex, increase the checking. A polished answer can still need a careful review.

Bring in someone who knows the subject. The useful part of the workflow is still the judgement around it.

A real task. A repeatable test. A considered review. Now you have a workflow you can assess.

## Scene map

| Time | Scene | Mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| 00:00 | The framework | Three concrete cards establish the argument. The middle card becomes active without moving its neighbours. |
| 00:07 | The checklist | One highlight travels through a stable checklist. The list remains a map instead of being replaced by separate title slides. |
| 00:14 | The test kit | Three differently coloured documents gather into the same two-layer folder. Movement shows containment. |
| 00:21 | Repeat the test | The same document object repeats in a grid. Checks arrive after the documents, making the sequence legible. |
| 00:28 | Check the output | A wrong line is struck out, then the reviewed output builds. The action precedes the result. |
| 00:35 | Two measures | Two bars grow inside a stable pair of cards. These are illustrative measures, not measured performance data. |
| 00:42 | Cause and effect | A slider thumb moves while the review bar grows. Two coordinated changes explain a relationship. |
| 00:49 | The human network | The central person appears first. Other people arrive, then the connecting paths draw towards them. |
| 00:56 | Return to the map | The original three-part framework returns as a completed checklist, giving the explanation a clear finish. |

## Playback

The gallery provides play, pause, replay and individual scene controls. Open index.html alone at a square viewport; arrow keys select scenes, space starts/pauses automatic playback, R replays the current scene, F toggles fullscreen. ?s=3 opens a scene directly. Each automatic beat is seven seconds.

## Adaptation

The 800 × 800 diagrams follow Will’s current explainer-slideshow template and fit engine. Fontshare supplies Sentient; no font binaries or third-party media are bundled. The right-side presenter belongs to the gallery wrapper, not this portable diagram file.
